In recent years, one undeniable truth hasn’t waned: mums and dads are doing it tough. From navigating families through the tumultuous waves of the pandemic to coping with rising interest rates and soaring grocery prices, it’s no wonder that these ongoing challenges are taking a toll on the mental health of parents everywhere. And affordable psychology services are in more demand than ever.
Pam Maclean, operator at Out and About Care and Education, has been keenly observant of this trend. She notes, “During the last few years, our three centre teams have noticed a marked increase in stress and anxiety levels in our families, and this is sometimes reflected in the children’s demeanour and behaviours.”
It’s a concerning reality that many families are grappling with, and it’s not just the parents who are affected. The ripple effect is felt by their children as well.
With over 40 years of experience in the early childhood space and a master’s degree in education, Pam recognised the pressing need to extend their support to these families and the broader community.
“This has caused us to become concerned for our families and the wider community to the point where we began to consider what we can do to show our support and encouragement for struggling parents,” Pam explains.
Affordable psychology services now available in Maroochydore
In response to this growing crisis, the early education service has taken a proactive step towards offering on-site psychology services at its Newspaper Place centre in Maroochydore.
“Times are tough for many people given the unsettled economic and employment landscape we now all inhabit, and we understand. So we wanted to think of a way to show our support and offer a positive, helpful additional service,” explains Pam.
