Sliding off the back of a vibrant new splash park, the thrills just keep coming, with a soaring new Sunshine Coast hinterland playground attraction.
The next stage of Nambour’s Quota Memorial Park improvements started in August and it’s generating a lot of excitement for the region’s littlest residents.
Sunshine Coast councillor David Law says the upgrades to the junior and toddler play space are impressive and complement the Coast’s newest community water park.
“Both the Nambour Aquatic Centre Splash Park, which offers more than 580 square-metres of active water play, and the new adventure playground at Quota Memorial Park, provide hours of family fun,” Cr Law says.
He says they are attracting even more visitors to the region’s hinterland heart.

Quota Memorial Park features
Cr Law says the adventure playground at Quota Memorial Park features a “huge seven-metre high ‘Spire Gear Tower’”. There is also a contoured rock wall, climbing rope net, banister slide, internal climbers with various levels of challenge, a rope elevator, and a huge spiral slide.
“It’s the energy boost this park needs,” Cr Law says.
He says the park’s refresh complements the new 1.7-hectare open space park extension. This formed part of Stage 1 works completed in January.
“This popular park is great for families with varying aged children,” Cr Law says.
The redesigned layout is accessible for all and includes rubber soft fall in and around all the play elements.
The various sized ‘gears’ on the outside of the tower and the skate park’s cog from the mill connect the park to 1894 Moreton Central Sugar Mill. This was a big part of Nambour’s history.
Cr Law is pleased with the transformation.
“I am sure the community will enjoy seeing the space turned into a green, family-friendly area for everyone to enjoy,” he says.
Other improvements at the park
The view lines between the Youth Activity Precinct and the junior and toddler play spaces are improved. A pool-style fence replaces the picket-style fence. The tower’s bubble windows, hole panels, and rope elevator also allow parents and carers to see into the tower. It makes supervision easier.
Quota Memorial Park boasts a green injection with an additional four shade trees planted around the playground. There is also an additional shade sail.
