Queensland Garden Expo 2024 – what’s on for kids

The Queensland Garden Expo is back in 2024, and they’re celebrating 40 years with plenty of gardening fun for the whole family!

As Queensland’s premier gardening event, the Queensland Garden Expo is a ‘must see’ in 2024 for green thumbs and novice gardeners alike. And this year, they are celebrating 40 years! To mark the occasion, the event will be bigger and better than ever, being extended from three days to four huge days—from the 4th to the 7th of July at the Nambour Showgrounds. Families can explore seven hectares of gardening inspiration as some of Australia’s leading gardening experts will participate in lectures, demonstrations, and workshops.

Activities for the whole family at Queensland Garden Expo

Whether you’re an avid gardener or simply wondering how to get your pot plants blooming, the Queensland Garden Expo has something for everyone.

The Cook’s Garden Stage is located on the Eastern side of the Oval, opposite the Poinciana Stage. This is the place to head if you want some great tips on growing your produce and turning it into delicious gourmet meals. You will also find lots of great information about using plant-based remedies for common ailments, organic gardening and more!

Are you interested in making your garden more productive? The Giant Kitchen Garden is always a hive of activity with loads of information to help you get started. Here you will find a host of permaculture and organic gardening experts on hand to answer all your questions.

What’s on for kids

Don’t worry—the Queensland Garden Expo is not all about the talks and workshops! There are barrel-loads of fab activities for the youngest gardeners, providing the perfect opportunity for little ones to test their green thumbs, get their hands dirty and have fun in the garden!

Throughout the weekend, you will find kids’ crafts, seed planting and the free (yes, FREE!) kids’ playground with a giant slide, jumping pillow and merry-go-round. And, of course, a free kids workshop designed to inspire the inner gardener in all ages. And don’t forget, there is free entry for kids under 15 years old!
