St Rita’s College is redefining what it means to offer a primary education. From the moment the youngest students walk through the gates, they are welcomed into a vibrant, safe, and nurturing environment where the seeds of confidence, curiosity, and character are sown.
With a holistic approach that values the development of the whole child, the College’s dedicated Primary team delivers tailor-made learning and pastoral programs designed to nurture every student academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
The Primary students are truly valued members of College life. Their energy, enthusiasm, and joyful presence enrich the entire campus, and in turn, they are inspired to live out the College motto: Virtute Non Verbis – Action Not Words.
Learning in and beyond the classroom
The Primary curriculum is brought to life by expert homeroom teachers. These teachers collaborate with secondary education specialists to deliver an enriching, comprehensive, engaging program across all key learning areas.
But learning at the College extends beyond the traditional classroom setting. Students are encouraged to explore their passions through STEAM and Design, Drama, Media and Visual Arts, Music and Sport opportunities. Student-led Primary Clubs, including Textiles Club, Minecraft Club, Media Club, and Hopeful Hearts, allow students to express creativity, build friendships, and cultivate leadership.
Maree Trims, Principal of St Rita’s College, said that Years 5 and 6 are great opportunities for students to fully immerse themselves in a thriving school community. She said, “Students are encouraged to explore our cocurricular offerings, take part in engaging specialist classes, and grow in confidence and independence, all within a supportive environment that naturally prepares them for their journey into Secondary school.”
Georgina Howard, Head of Primary, said, “By experiencing St Rita’s College through a Primary lens, our goal is to foster confidence, curiosity, and community. We are passionate providers of outstanding education for girls, and we are committed to guiding each girl in our care, encouraging her to embrace her strengths and grow into a woman of action.”
Being a proud St Rita’s College alumnae herself, Ms Howard said it was exciting and humbling to give back to the community that has given so much to her.
“It is an immense privilege and has been a joyful and invigorating journey. I know firsthand the unique confidence that a St Rita’s College experience provides young women. It has been beautiful to witness the same sense of community, camaraderie and faith within the College today as when I began my journey at 12 years old.”
Ultimately, the Primary program encourages students to not only discover what they can learn, but who they can become. In this empowering environment, girls are equipped to thrive not only in high school but also in life.
