The Sunshine Coast Corporate Charity Golf Challenge has wrapped up in spectacular fashion, raising a record-breaking $109,531 to support SunnyKids’ Transitional Housing Project.
Held on Friday, 5 September, at the stunning Maroochy River Golf Club, the event – hosted by Aitken Legal and supported by Platinum Sponsor Grenfell Murray – brought together 144 players, local businesses, and community supporters for a day that combined golf, entertainment, and generosity with one clear goal: helping vulnerable families build safe and stable futures.
Funds raised will directly contribute to the construction of six new townhouses, providing secure accommodation for up to 132 individuals each year. That equates to 5,475 safe bed nights annually – a vital lifeline for families escaping domestic violence.
SunnyKids CEO Kathleen Hope said the event’s success highlights the power of collective action.
“We are so grateful to the Sunshine Coast community for rallying behind this year’s Corporate Charity Golf Challenge,” Ms Hope said. “Your generosity will directly support our transitional housing project, helping children and families feel safe and hopeful again. Together, we can achieve extraordinary things for vulnerable families.”
The day featured plenty of on-course excitement, including three hole-in-one challenges with prizes such as a MINI Cooper SE from Coastline MINI Garage, $20,000 cash from Grenfell Murray, and a Club Car Golf Cart. Off the green, entertainment came from comedian Harley Breen and fellow performers, while Dean Stewart provided live music. Guests also enjoyed a Market Bistro lunch before bidding fiercely in a lively auction led by Yianni Mooney, which, alongside a $5,000 Travel Associates raffle prize, helped push fundraising efforts over the $100k mark.
For Aitken Legal, the event’s success was especially meaningful. Managing Director Lisa Aitken said relaunching the challenge after an eight-year break created an opportunity to combine business networking with community impact.
“With 36 teams and all 18 holes activated by local businesses, it became a premium day of golf with a powerful purpose,” Ms Aitken said. “The support was outstanding – from generous auction donations and dedicated volunteers to our key partners and sponsors. This day wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
The Sunshine Coast business community once again proved its heart, rallying together to ensure local families can rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
