Good news for Sunshine Coast families: one of our region’s most-loved swimming spots is back and better than ever, with Kings Beach Ocean Pool reopening after a major refurbishment.
If you’ve got kids who’ve been counting down the days until the ocean pool reopens, spring has arrived early. The historic saltwater pool (also known as the Sir Francis Nicklin Memorial Pool) has had a top-to-toe upgrade, and it’s ready to welcome families back for another season of sun, splashing and salty fun.
Why families love this spot
Tucked into the rocks at the northern end of Kings Beach, this ocean pool has been a Sunshine Coast institution for generations — and it’s easy to see why it’s such a hit with parents.
With a 25-metre seawater pool, a gentle wading area for little ones, accessible entry, and a children’s spray park right next door, it’s an easy, low-stress outing, whatever the age and stage of your tribe. No surf to worry about, no long walks lugging gear across hot sand — just a safe, scenic spot to cool off together.
What’s new at the Kings Beach Ocean Pool
The pool was closed from 20 April 2026 while crews worked hard behind the scenes, and reopened to the community on 1 July 2026. The upgrade means:
- A brand-new, fully resurfaced pool floor
- Fresh tiles and grates for a crisp new look
- Clearer lane markings, great for older kids working on their laps
- Recoated and corrosion-treated shade structures and seating — much appreciated on those hot Sunshine Coast days
- Fully serviced pumps and filters
- A new pool finish built for safety and built to last
It all adds up to a pool that’s not just refreshed, but genuinely improved for families who use it week in, week out.
