Brisbane’s streets are alive with creativity, thanks to the new Brisbane street art that has popped up across the city. As we go about our days, residents are treated to stunning street art, transforming everyday traffic signal boxes into vibrant expressions of community spirit.
Now, locals have the chance to celebrate these artistic contributions by voting for their favourite design in the 2024 People’s Choice Award. Voting is open until 28 February, offering residents plenty of time to admire the artworks and show their support.

The Artforce Street Art Competition
This year’s competition saw 84 creative entries pushing boundaries with imaginative designs. From colourful patterns inspired by Brisbane’s unique suburbs to a cheeky kangaroo caricature abseiling down the iconic Kangaroo Point Cliffs, the artworks reflect the character, environment, culture, and history of the areas they brighten.
Bringing these masterpieces to life was a collaborative effort involving 70 volunteers, eight families, and 11 organisations. Participants ranged from school students and community group members to local businesses, showcasing talents across all ages and levels of artistic experience.
Some artworks were hand-painted directly onto the electrical boxes, while others were applied using vibrant vinyl wraps—each contributing a distinctive charm to Brisbane’s streetscape.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner praised the creativity and dedication behind the projects: “I have been so impressed by the calibre of work this year, which turned our blank electrical boxes into artworks the community can be proud of.”
“Months of planning and weeks of painting have gone into these projects, so make sure you get out, see them with your own eyes and show your appreciation by voting for your favourite.”
Artforce, which began in 1999, was launched to beautify electrical boxes, reduce graffiti, and support Brisbane’s emerging art community. Since its inception, more than 5,500 volunteers have transformed over 2,500 boxes across the city.
