Woodford is set to become an even more attractive destination for families, with a major $1.8 million upgrade planned for Ambrose Tilney Park.
The highlight of the upgrade will be a new all-ages pump track that will cater to riders of all skill levels. The upgrade will also expand the existing playground with new equipment and public amenities.
Mayor Peter Flannery expressed excitement about the project, stating, “As Woodford’s popularity grows, we want to ensure it has the necessary infrastructure to meet the needs of our community.”
“The upgrades will turn Ambrose Tilney Park into a district-level park with an exciting new pump track for all ages and skill levels.”
Cr Tony Latter (Division 12) said he was looking forward to the highly anticipated park upgrade, so families and friends can enjoy themselves and make the most of the outdoors.
“In addition to keeping existing structures and upgrading the existing playground, we’re also creating a new adventure playground, large play tower and slide, swing and accessible spinner and tactile boards.
“We’re also adding shade structures, a new public amenities block, picnic shelters, a BBQ facility and of course, the pump track.
“The pump track will offer a safe, all-ages space where riders can build confidence and enjoy learning to ride their scooters and bikes at their own pace.
Construction is expected to commence in early 2025, with completion anticipated later that year, weather permitting. Access to some parts of the park will be impacted during construction; however, the Council will work with the contractor to minimise disruption wherever possible as the works progress.
