Two educators from The Lakes College in North Brisbane, Lauren Germanotta and Louise Parker, have won The Educator’s prestigious 2024 ‘Rising Stars’ award.
As an impartial authority in the education sector, The Educator conducted an exhaustive four-month research study to identify and showcase the industry’s top performers. Winners demonstrate leadership, innovation, and achievement, making a positive impact on student learning and engagement.
Lauren Germanotta, Year 1 Teacher/Academic Care Coordinator, and Louise Parker, Secondary Teacher – Mathematics and HPE, Junior Mathematics Coordinator and Netball Coordinator from The Lakes College in North Brisbane, have carved out their own routes to the top but share many priorities as educators.
Lauren focuses on instilling positive habits and building foundational knowledge in her students. She strives to create a classroom environment that fosters understanding and critical thinking.
Whilst Louise prioritises building relationships with her students. She utilises creative strategies to make traditionally challenging subjects like math more engaging for her students.
Both teachers share a passion for lifelong learning. Lauren holds a Master’s degree in Educational Neuroscience, which allows her to design lessons that optimise brain development. Louise, a First Nations woman from Dharug Country, incorporates indigenous culture into her teaching, fostering a more inclusive learning environment.
These Rising Stars are shaping the future of education by fostering a love of learning and cultural awareness in their students.
