New Gold Coast park and playground unveiled at SkyRidge

A new one-hectare greenspace park and playground has been unveiled at the master-planned Gold Coast community SkyRidge. The park is part of an expansive network of large open spaces, parkland and recreation areas.

Gumnut Park adjoins the development’s three-kilometre eco-corridor green spine. It features two huge hand-carved gumnuts that offer play opportunities for children to run, hide, and discover in the structures.

Project Director Chris Alston from CRA Group said the park was the first of many. Once the development is complete, residents will have a choice of multiple parks and reserves.

“We are building a healthy new community around the lifestyle that has made the Gold Coast one of Australia’s most desirable places to live,” Mr Alston said.

“Once finished, SkyRidge will include over 75 hectares of public open space. The parks will have fitness stations, high-quality play equipment, BBQ and picnic areas and adventure and nature play spaces.

What is at Gumnut Park?

“Gumnut Park is the first playground at Skyridge. It includes picnic shelters, a kick and throw oval, drinking fountains, bike racks, and interactive exercise equipment conveniently serviced by roadside visitor parking.”

The two feature Gumnuts with multiple entries for open-ended play. They include a climbing net and inclusive stairs and are connected by a swaying rope bridge. Talk tubes are inside each Gumnut for interactive fun.

The park also features callisthenics and strength fitness equipment, the first of its kind in a public park in Queensland, suitable for all fitness levels.

Around 1,000 trees and plants have been planted throughout the park to complete the setting, with rehabilitation planting used in the transition areas adjoining the eco corridor.

Construction is also about to commence on a two-hectare feature park, which will become a major drawcard of the development once it opens in 2025. The park will include stunning city views and lifestyle amenities never before seen on the Gold Coast.

Works continue onsite, producing the next 350 lots of the newest neighbourhood, “Botanica,” launched in May. While nearing the completion of the first SkyRidge neighbourhood, “The Ascent,” later this year, SkyRidge will still have over 2,000 lots to release to the market progressively over the next ten years.
