Healthy kids snacks go from kitchen bench to 900 Woolworths stores

A mum who was alarmed by the high sugar, chemicals, and mystery fillers in kids snacks created her own range of healthy kids snacks, which is now being sold in 900 Woolworths stores Australia.

Laura Allan created Isaac’s Snacks in her kitchen using only healthy ingredients such as dates, apricots, figs, cinnamon, coconut, and oats. There are no refined sugars, no dairy, no cheap fillers, and certainly no mystery ingredients chemicals.

“I was really looking for more real-food snacks for my young son. I felt that many items in supermarkets and health food stores were loaded with sugar; some bars marketed as healthy contain up to 50% sugar,” said Ms. Allan.

In response, she created Isaac’s Snacks. Initially, the snacks were home-baked for her son’s lunchbox, but they quickly scaled up in production as demand grew.

Her first product, Jammy Date Bite, contains just eight ingredients: oats, dates, chia seeds, flour, coconut oil, maple syrup, coconut, and cinnamon. It recently won the award for ‘Best Sweet Snack’ at the 2024 Healthy Food Awards. This product is one of two Isaac’s Snacks items now available at Woolworths, along with Fruity Cutie Bite.

“We simply want to assist modern parents who want to make great choices. They have been working all day, need to pick their kids up from school, and just want something nutritious and healthy. Including Isaac’s Snacks in a lunchbox or as an after-school snack is one decision they can make with confidence,” Laura said.

“Parents can have that trust when they look on the back of a pack and they know exactly what’s in it.”
