Though this Easter might be vastly different from the one you hoped for, there’s still plenty of ways you can make Easter special for kids during isolation.
Grow your own Easter eggs
This one is a hit in my house. The night before Easter Sunday, take the kids outside and get them to ‘plant’ some small foil-wrapped chocolate eggs in a flower pot. Before they wake the next morning, replace the small eggs with giant foil-wrapped eggs. It never fails to delight! Plus, you get to eat the tiny eggs yourself – win, win!
Lay a bunny trap
You might not be able to go out, but you can always bring the magic inside! Sprinkle some flour (if you can find some!) in a large flat tray. Lay a carrot in the tray and leave it by the door before the kids go to bed.
Whilst they are sleeping, find a small circle of foam (or trim a cotton pad) and indent some paw prints into the flour. You can also use the foam to pop some flour paw prints leading away from the tray. The kids will wake up to magical bunny prints around the house.

Decorate the house
There’s nothing like some carrot bunting to add some happiness to your Easter Sunday. The kids can help to cut out and colour in carrot shapes and thread them onto some string. Get out the party box and hang up some streamers. Blow up some balloons and draw bunny faces on them.
Play Easter games
Pin the tail on the bunny, egg & spoon race, Easter egg hunt, there’s plenty of games to play that can bring a little egg-stra Easter fun.
Watch a bunny movie
After you’ve enjoyed your home grown Easter eggs, celebrated with an Easter-themed indoor party and played Easter games, snuggle up with the kids and enjoy a bunny movie together. Rise of the Guardians, Peter Rabbit are wonderful family movies to share.
