Buderim: Get pumped for new pump track at Forestwood Drive Park!

Great news for Buderim families! Sunshine Coast Council is moving forward with plans to build a brand new pump track at Forestwood Drive Park.

In October 2023, the Council invited residents to share their thoughts on the project. The study received a strong response of 393 submissions. Councillor Ted Hungerford expressed his appreciation for the community’s involvement.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for Buderim to shape its recreational spaces,” Cr Hungerford said.

“The clear favourite for the pump track location was Forestwood Drive Park. We’re thrilled to bring this exciting project to life there.”

So, what exactly is a pump track? It’s a looped track designed for bikes where riders generate momentum by pumping their bodies up and down rather than pedalling. It’s a fun and active way for kids of all ages to develop their coordination and cycling skills.

The feedback overwhelmingly supported the idea, with 74% of respondents in favour of a Buderim pump track. Forestwood Drive Park emerged as the top choice, garnering 50% of the location votes.

“With this strong community backing, we’ll now review the valuable feedback received and begin planning the track at Forestwood Drive Park,” Cr Hungerford explained

This exciting addition to Buderim’s recreation options aligns with the Council’s Recreation Parks Plan 2021, which identified a need for more informal sporting activities for teenagers and young adults. The pump track promises to be a fun and healthy destination for Buderim youth to meet up and get active!
