Celebrate Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers all month long

Garden lovers and green thumbs rejoice! The countdown is on for when Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers blooms into life.

Throughout September, more than 190,000 plants and flowers will brighten Toowoomba with their colour. It’s incredibly pic-worthy and families travel from far and wide to see it.

Following the success of 2021’s month-long celebrations, this year’s Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers will have events and activities running the month of September. That’s more time to enjoy all this wonderful festival has to offer.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers family events

Head to Toowoomba between September 1 and 30 to get up close with the range of floral displays. There are also a host of activities (some free) for families to enjoy.

The iconic Grand Central Floral Parade is one of the city’s most favourite events of the year. Watch street performers, carnival characters and roving entertainment escort the stunning floral floats through the heart of the city on their way to Queens Park. It starts at 10am on Saturday, September 17.

Queens Park retains the charm and character of a 19th century park and botanic gardens. However, during the Carnival it puts on a special display. All 25 hectares of Queens Park is something to behold. Children love running along bright flower beds and under the large canopies of stately trees. And if they still have energy after covering the expansive green lawns, there are two playgrounds to explore.

A Ferris wheel is set to pop up right in the middle of the gardens between Friday, September 16 and Sunday, September 25.

There will also been parkland entertainment every weekend, so pack a picnic and take in the musical delights and activities among the flower beds.

At Newtown Park you’ll find the Cinema Under the Stars on Saturday, September 24. It’s a great opportunity to gather your family and friends and enjoy a movie out in the open air.

Also on Saturday, September 24 is the Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Picnic Point. If you’re looking for interactive games all day, colouring-in and roving kids entertainment and food stalls, head here between 8am and 11:30am.

It’s not all roses at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. Between September 9 and 11 the Festival of Food and Wine is taking over. Toowoomba Regions eats (popularly referred to as #trEATS) is back! It’s a celebration of the regions fantastic food and drinks. There will be a menu of exclusive springtime specials available only during the Carnival of Flowers from as little as $10!

But wait, there’s more!

Of course, there will be a heap of walking tours, community events and other festivities, which means you’re in for a bloomin’ good time.

Visit the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers website for more information.
