Mrs. Eloise Beveridge, Principal of Immanuel Lutheran College, is excited about this innovative initiative. “‘Artists on the Horizon’ represents an incredible opportunity to shine a spotlight on the creative abilities of our youth and to bring our community together in a celebration of artistry and imagination,” says Mrs. Beveridge.
The school’s vision for this event is clear: to create a platform where young talent across the Sunshine Coast is celebrated, and the community is united through the arts.
Invitations open to young artists across the Sunshine Coast
This inaugural event extends a warm invitation to students from Prep to Year 12 across the Sunshine Coast. Encouraging them to submit their artworks in various categories, including painting, sculpture, digital art, wearable art, and short film. Submissions are open until July 31, 2024, and Immanuel urges young artists to seize this unique opportunity to express themselves and share their creative perspectives with the wider community.
‘Artists on the Horizon’ is more than a showcase; it’s an integral part of Fruehlingsfest, Immanuel’s largest German-themed community event. This event brings people together through arts, entertainment, rides, food trucks, market stalls, and much more.
“We’re excited to incorporate this art showcase into the heart of Fruehlingsfest, amplifying the celebration of culture and community that defines this festival,” adds Mrs. Beveridge.
“We are grateful to Haymes Paint Shop Maroochydore for their major sponsorship. This includes a generous $3000 prize pool for student awards, alongside other local companies donating art supplies and lesson vouchers. Their engagement represents a significant investment in our local talent and the future of the arts on the Sunshine Coast.”
Haymes Paint Shop will also feature a live interactive installation, promising attendees an immersive and inspiring experience.
Immanuel Lutheran College partnered with The Friends of HEAL Foundation
In alignment with Immanuel’s mission to elect positive societal change, the college has partnered with The Friends of HEAL Foundation (HEAL). Therefore, 100% of the commission from artwork sales and gallery entry donations directly support their profound work in providing creative arts therapy to traumatised refugee children. This collaboration is a powerful testament to art’s capacity to heal and unify.
The local Artisans marketplace, featured at the event, will further celebrate the rich talent within the community. This will showcase a wide range of arts and crafts that reflect the local culture and creativity.
‘Artists on the Horizon’ invites students to partake in a ground-breaking celebration of creativity, the community to rally in support of emerging talent, and everyone who believes in the transformative power of art. “This is just the beginning,” Mrs. Beveridge says. “We envision ‘Artists on the Horizon’ growing each year. And it becoming a treasured cultural event and icon of youthful creativity on the Sunshine Coast.”
“We invite our young artists to grasp this extraordinary opportunity to be part of something truly meaningful. For our broader community, your participation in this event and Fruehlingsfest will inspire our young artists and foster a sense of community spirit and togetherness on the Sunshine Coast.”
