Grammar students lend a helping hand this festive season

In the spirit of giving and community service, students at Sunshine Coast Grammar School are once again stepping up to make a meaningful impact this festive season.

The School’s Grammar Helping Hands service program encourages students to spread Christmas cheer and actively contribute to the welfare of our local community by partnering with The Shack Community Centre in Nambour.

Sunshine Coast Grammar School has been affiliated with The Shack for over 13 years, regularly holds donation drives throughout the year, and contributes to their Christmas donations through a backpack and Hamper Appeal.

Since the first backpacks were purchased in 2019, the school community has purchased nearly 300 backpacks filled with essential school supplies. This year, with 125 already secured, we are set to surpass previous donation records.

The generosity of Grammar students continues with the Year 5 cohort actively participating in the Appeal, with all funds raised at their upcoming Market Day Stall also going towards purchasing backpacks and hampers.

The backpacks, filled with school supplies, go a long way to supporting families in the local community facing financial hardship and are a wonderful way to ensure children get the best start at school in 2024.

This year, the school’s Donation Drive netted 738kg of food which goes a long way to helping vulnerable, homeless and less fortunate individuals and families on the Sunshine Coast. As a community service, The Shack relies heavily on donations and these contributions play a crucial role in supporting our local community.
