Brisbane City Council is progressing exciting new projects for Victoria Park / Barrambin to create more to see and do in the park sooner. Three projects identified in the Victoria Park Vision are progressing ahead of the release of the Draft Master Plan later in the year.
Park furniture and shelters
The installation of new park benches, barbecues, picnic tables and shelters will occur later this year. There will also be new drinking fountains, toilets, bins and bike facilities at Victoria Park / Barrambin.
Council says the installation of these new facilities will also require upgrades to power, water and sewerage services.
Spring Hill Common
Spring Hill Common will provide the local community with a relaxed parkland setting and lifestyle destination in Brisbane’s inner city.
Tiered stepped seating and a flat outdoor space for active and healthy activities, community gatherings and picnicking are features of the area. It will be delivered in late-2023.
New urban pump track
Council will deliver a new urban pump track with skate facilities in the Herston corner of Victoria Park / Barrambin in mid-2024. The track will take advantage of the park’s existing natural topography and offers space for young children as well as more experienced riders.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says Brisbane is Australia’s fastest growing city. It’s therefore crucial for the city to have world-class parkland and greenspaces for communities to enjoy.
Victoria Park / Barrambin is a conversion of the 18-hole golf course. A new 64-hectare park will give residents more opportunities to enjoy the climate and connect with family and friends.
With Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Victoria Park / Barrambin will host the equestrian cross country event.
Mr Schrinner says the Victoria Park Vision highlights how precious the inner-city greenspace is. It will become a natural retreat and urban park for adventure, discovery and reconnection.
