As a busy parent, I’ve always loved the ritual of bedtime stories. It’s a gorgeous way to end the day and connect with my kids, no matter what the day has thrown at us. But let’s face it, the brain is usually fried by the time the kids are ready for bed, and the last thing I want to do is fumble through a half-baked tale. And can we really read Where is the Green Sheep again?
So when Story Sparks landed on my desk, promising 1000 unique and fun bedtime stories, I was more than a little eager to test it out on Queensland’s toughest book critics, my kids.
What is Story Sparks?
Created by Gold Coast stay-at-home dad Mark Cunich, Story Sparks is a unique interactive flip book designed to spark your imagination and create endless bedtime stories. With over 1,000 plot combinations, you can mix and match characters, settings, and scenarios to create one-of-a-kind tales that will keep your kids captivated and it is a lifesaver for parents struggling to create bedtime stories at the end of the day. The possibilities are endless, from pirates on a playground to talking fire trucks in outer space.
“I always imagined sitting down at night and telling my kids an entertaining bedtime story. But the reality is, by the time it gets to bedtime, I have no inspiration,” said Mark. “That’s why I wrote Story Spark.”
Each page provides you with a character, a setting, and a scenario to kickstart your bedtime stories. Simply flip through the scenarios to create unique plot combinations. If you’re feeling stuck, there are also prompts to help you get the creative juices flowing.
Our verdict on the bedtime stories from Story Sparks
We’ve had a blast creating stories with Story Sparks. We’ve sent dinosaurs on space adventures, had mice sniffing out trouble in the bank, and had pirates getting lost in the zoo.
The characters are interesting and entertaining, while the locations are funny and relatable. The scenarios are fun and engaging, providing plenty of opportunities for adventure and excitement.
The prompts are a great addition, so you can quickly develop a fun storyline even when you are super-tired. The Story Sparks website is a great additional resource, too, with story demonstrations and tips.
My favourite thing was how we usually ended up creating a story together. My kids’ imagination was far better than mine, and the stories we created always made us laugh and provided the warm and fuzzy end to the day that we needed.
This interactive flip book is a game-changer for tired parents. It’s like having a personal story generator that provides endless inspiration. With over 1,000 plot combinations, you’ll always have fresh and exciting tales to share with your little ones. And it’s a book that will never grow old, and will have you looking forward to bedtime stories once more.
Story Sparks is available from the Story Sparks website, priced at $39.95.
